About Kappa Gamma Delta
Academics:
Every year, Kappa Gamma Delta hosts the Annual Biology and Health Careers Panel in which we invite health and biology professionals to give all UCSC students some perspective about health care and science fields. The sisters are also held to a GPA requirement of 3.0 or above per quarter. We have an academic advisor that holds academic advising meetings throughout the quarter and assists any sister who may be struggling academically. Community Service: In addition to completing at the very least 10 hours of volunteer work each quarter, every active member participates in a big service project planned by our Service Vice President. Some of the volunteer work we have done include:
Sisterhood: To strengthen our bonds of sisterhood, we have at least four socials each quarter in which our Social Vice President plans an activity or event that everyone attends. Some examples of the socials we have done are:

Kappa Gamma Delta was founded at UC Davis in 1994 under the motto "Service to Humanity." Since then, Kappa Gamma Delta has branched out and now consists of 3 chapters: Davis (Alpha), Berkeley (Epsilon) and Santa Cruz (Zeta). Each chapter holds the same standards for their members and strives to ensure each sister is able to achieve her goals.
KGD is a Professional, Academic, and Pre-Health Sorority. This entails that though there is a social aspect to the sorority, the main goal of Kappa Gamma Delta is to ensure the academic success of its members, guiding them to become professional and academically prepared for graduate school. As a sorority, we often have Inter-Greek Socials with other organizations on campus and participate in the yearly Greek Week games. We occasionally collaborate with our brother fraternity, Sigma Mu Delta, another Pre-Health organization at UC Santa Cruz. We as sisters support each other academically, socially and emotionally. Being sisters is about more than just attending the same events; it is caring deeply for each other and collectively believing in each sisters's dreams. With so many sisters behind us, it is not hard to understand why Kappa Gamma Delta's sisters are so passionate about and motivated towards fulfilling their goals. Outside of the sorority, the sisters of Kappa Gamma Delta are active and busy with school, jobs, other organizations and activities; however, they also make time to volunteer in the community. Many sisters begin volunteering at many places, but over the years devote their time to a single organization that they feel strongly for. |
